• Research and author policy memo recommendations to update the current National Detention Standards, providing guidance to ensure the well-being of immigrants navigating the deportation process, for inclusion in the Senator’s legislative agenda• Field and reply to constituents phone calls and provide the Senator with briefs about what was discussed and the relevant information disseminated • Attend assigned legislative hearings and prepare memos and executive summaries for the Senator about the primary points addressed • Actively participate in team projects and assist in congressional event organization and planning, including identifying and scheduling locations for constituent meetings• Author weekly reports for the Senator, including media reports, legislation research, and polling data

• In collaboration with Senator Duckworth’s office, develop and define an internship focusing on project-based work that addresses social inequality and social justice• Identify opportunities to experience how legislative activities impact the lives and interests of constituents and their communities• Identify and implement methods to determine how my internal and external efforts are measured and reported

• Research and prepare drafts of briefs and arguments for review and approval by attorneys in preparation for trials and meetings• Schedule and organize meeting reservations and client appointments, ensuring that all audio/visual and supply requests are met• Manage incoming phone and electronic legal correspondence between clients, attorneys, and court officials• Assist in the overall formation and efficient administration of voluminous case load
