Maintain equipment to support the needs of the navy. Creates detailed written technical specifications addressing all aspects of electrical design including electronic control systems. Creates new as well as revised previously existing schematics, drawings, and instructions. Leads teams to analyze and resolve problems. Collaborates with internal personnel as well as external personnel at other shipyards for sharing information. Tracks failures to analyze trends in failing components to determine what needs to be changed either in the procedure or maintenance cycle. Provides status and advisory services to senior functional engineers or senior program engineers and managers on potential problems, issues, and projects that arise; complies with all applicable Federal, state, and local laws and policies. Develops, executes and reviewed policies, processes, and procedures and communicates with mechanics electricians and supervisory personnel to share knowledge and to ensure work is performed according to current specifications. Mentors new engineers and electricians in best work practices. Uses analytical skills to responds to emergent work by applying diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve problems to maintain the functionality of all types of heavy duty machinery. Performs circuit alterations to improve functionality of equipment. Creates specifications for equipment and modifies policies along with performing appropriate testing.
