As a chemist, I enjoy the challenge of evaluating and improving chemical processes from lab scale through implementation in plant manufacture. I have been priviledged to work on a wide variety of projects and processes involving different types of organic synthetic chemistry and process techniques. I have experience in sulfonations, chlorinations (chlorine, thionyl chloride, PCl3/POCl3), diazotization, oximations, substitution reactions, condensation reactions, etc. I also have experience in polymerization, primarily with acrylates and free radical polymerization, but also in Friedel-Crafts polymer reactions. Although reaction conditions are important, work-up and isolation techniques often determine whether a process will be successful in the plant. The process must be taken as a whole, and here is where experience and creativity bring the most value. I have also been priviledged to work with a host of customers, particullarly on technical issues related to process chemistry and manufacturing start-ups. I strive to develop strong relationships with project/process groups through teamwork, both internally and externally.
