Key Responsibilities;•Seconded to Hindustan Unilever Limited, India as a Senior Development Manager at the Global Design Centre for Oral Care, Mumbai, India.•Functioned as a technical project leader for global innovation projects for the family health brand of toothpaste (Signal/Pepsodent).•Support to formulating the global innovation strategies for family health brand.•Functioned as the South Asia team lead for deploying Unilever Oral Care innovations.•In charge of steering strategic capability projects including value improvement of family health brand (Signal/Pepsodent) and Close Up toothpaste.•Senior leadership role in charge of capability building for the category with regard to Oral Care technologies, skill development and training.

Key Responsibilities;•Led a 13 member team consisting of Home & Personal Care (HPC) Formulation Development, HPC Product Evaluation and Packaging Development (HPC and Foods categories).•Led the deployment of regional & global Unilever innovations as per the Unilever category innovation plans. •Responsible for the control and monitoring of the innovation deployment budget in Sri Lanka, for HPC products & packaging.•Contributed to the harmonisation of Unilever formulations(HPC) and packaging (HPC & Foods).•Led the development of local brands marketed by Unilever (Sunlight Soap, Wonderlight Soap, Pears baby range) as per the local marketing requirements.•Contributed to the company value improvement initiatives without compromising the delivered quality to customers and consumers.•Coached & built talent of the team to effectively execute their roles and take over broader responsibilities within the function as part of their career development. •Influencing the local regulatory environment, lobbied for strategic changes in relevant product standards at the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) and functioned as a working group committee member during product standard revisions.

Key Responsibilities;•Assignment at the Unilever Category Technology Centre for Oral Care in Milan, Italy, responsible for the project on the global harmonisation strategy of Whitening & Advanced Oral Care Product Platforms.•Closely interacted and networked with the European & global Unilever teams of Oral Care Category, recommending harmonisation opportunities for toothpaste and gel formulations.•Networked with regional & global Unilever R&D and Market Research teams in Europe, Asia & Middle East regions to conduct preliminary testing to validate the harmonisation strategies proposed.

Key Responsibilities;•Second to Mumbai, India for career development in R&D management as a member of the Unilever Global Technology Centre for Oral Care responsible for the Market Development Platform.•Responsible for the design and rollout of key projects pertaining to the Oral Care Category involving Whitening, Anti-cavity & Anti-germ benefits.•Gained working knowledge & experience in regional & global project management and product deployment to countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. •Developed Technical Transfer media to communicate to countries the technical requirements for the successful implementation of the projects.•Developed and recommended a novel chalk toothpaste formulation & whitening toothpaste formulation with exceptional gross margin gains.•Coordinated the implementation of technically feasible & consumer acceptable Oral Care Cost Effectiveness Projects in South Asia in 2006.•Supported the global teams to finalise ingredient specifications such as co-surfactants, alternate preservatives critical for the Oral Care Category through validation and testing.•Coordinated consumer testing of the formulations developed and validated the results through regional teams in the Asian, Middle Eastern & African regions. Formulations included both toothpaste and gels.•Extensive interaction with Unilever approved flavour houses to develop flavours suitable for product mixes.
