I have been holding the post of Chief Data Officer, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways from July, 2022 and striving to assess the Pain Points and Data Artifacts of the Ministry for delivering and implementing innovative ideas. I also share the responsibility of National Data Focal Point (NDFP) for Government of India to coordinate with World Health Organization on 5th Global Status Report on Road Safety (GSRRS). I work for Road Safety by identifying the Black Spots (on National highways) and Data Auditing of eRAD (erstwhile iRAD) application.Prior to coming to the MoRTH, I have worked in Ministries like Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India; Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation; Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals; Union Public Service Commission and Ministry of Civil Aviation. In the process, I had varied experiences of Administration, Establishment and Human Resource Development along with vast experience of different domain and exposure to domain specific data. While working as Deputy Director General in M/o Environment, Forests & Climate Change, I steered and managed the project, ‘Development of a digital platform for monitoring of plantations raised under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA)’. In M/o Statistics & Programme Implementation, I steered, planned and managed the revamping of the legacy application ‘Online Computerized Monitoring System (OCMS)’ developed for monitoring the status of implementation of Infrastructure projects costing Rs. 150 Crores and above under Central Sector Scheme (CSS). Similarly, I also revamped the Application meant for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Member of Parliaments Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), the flagship scheme of the Government of India with annual outlay of Rs. 3950 Crores. My role as Director in D/o Chemical and Petrochemical got the opportunity to look after the administration of various Public Sector Units namely Hindustan Insecticides Ltd. (HIL), Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd. (HOCL), Hindustan Fluorocarbons Limited (HFL) and Brahmaputra Cracker Polymers ltd (BCPL). The major achievement had been the Cabinet decision for closure of HOCL and putting HFL on the fast track for disinvestment as per the Cabinet decision. In the formative years of my career I had the opportunity to work in multiple ministries with the exposure for establishment, administration, human resource development and coordination, which gave me the much needed exposure and experience and prepared me for the greater task.
