Vanguard is a global leader in asset management services with a focus on low-cost. Vanguard is the largest provider of mutual funds and second largest provider of exchange traded funds. As an internal controls associate I review the operating effectiveness of controls within the finance and investment operations divisions. I also advise on strengthening the control environment by partnering with the business, both locally and internationally, to mitigate or minimise risks identified. Monthly and quarterly reports are prepared by collating, analysing and evaluating control deficiencies and incident data to provide insights for leaders within the organisation to make informed decisions. I’ve focused on ensuring greater data integrity and stewardship. Uplifting the team’s use of PowerBI by developing the data model, visuals and methodology for data interpretation and analysis.

BDO is one of the world’s leading accountancy and advisory service firms. As a senior auditor I was responsible for directing audit and other assurance engagements. This included designing the work allocation for juniors and analysing the financial profile of the company for reporting key risks to the audit manager and partner. I managed a portfolio of clients simultaneously across a range of industries, including several ASX listed companies. I analysed and evaluated technical accounting matters and provided a clear position. In July 2018, I was nominated for and won the annual exceptional client service award for my demonstration of outstanding leadership when managing the audit team for the firm’s largest client. During my tenure, I also had multiple opportunities to travel overseas to Jakarta, where I was involved in the audit of federal funding for infrastructure projects overseas.

Student IT provides centralised information and technology services to students, staff and external clients visiting the University of Melbourne. This service is provided in person and online through a ticket system. I problem-solved system, network and application specific issues and managed multiple clients while working in tandem or individually. I maintained a high degree of professionalism, updating process and procedure documents to reflect technology changes and best practise methodologies. I also pursued ongoing training opportunities to enhance my communication skills and prepare for challenging scenarios.

The academic and learning support service team focuses on providing technology services to various faculties within the The University of Melbourne. I was recommended by colleagues from Student IT when a short term position became available to assist the Echo360 support team during their 6 month busy period. Within 2 weeks, I demonstrated the ability to learn highly detailed processes and apply technical solutions across the Echo360 platform. The team was impressed with my ability to address the core requirements of the role and looked to enhance my knowledge and expertise by learning to diagnose on-site hardware issues.
