As an IT Specialist in an overseas post, I oversaw the IT and telecommunications infrastructure in a secure computing environment. Due to the mission-critical and sensitive nature of the data processed in the facility, I focused on improving the information security program by making sure IT security controls were properly implemented, including patch management, access control, PKI, system hardening, disaster recovery, vulnerability management, and configuration management. My efforts have reduced the organization’s risk score to a level where it was continually in the top 10% within the enterprise. In an effort to reduce overhead, I led the project to migrate on-premise computing architecture to a Government cloud service: conducted engineering reviews, prepared local computing environment for the cloud, and worked project to completion.

In this remote position, I worked as a Senior Security Engineer integrating new telemetry sources for a client ArcSight SIEM system. I coordinated with the client to obtain requirements, researched telemetry sources to find out delivery method (i.e. syslog, SNMP, RESTful API, etc.), and developed and implemented software that processed and ingested the event data into the SIEM. I worked extensively with RESTful APIs from cloud services such as Salesforce and Okta, and with creating parsers to process JSON data from log sources.
