From 2009 I have progressively transitioned to & submerged in the field of Urban-specialized Biodiversity Conservation. Starting as a volunteer cleaning cages to my first directorship at the busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation center in the world (2012). From 2016 I have committed to structuring & adding allied departments to Wildlife NPOs to form a new inter-supportive model. In our pilot roll-out of each department we achieved International recognition ranging from National Geographic Projects, Expert Certification from Cornell University, NY & a partnership with The Wildlife Society Of South Africa for Environmental education. For Ecology we submitted our first assessments & applications for wetlands and watercourses and developed rehabilitation & translocation plans that were accepted by the relevant authorities. Thereafter I was invited to provincial & national forums on conservation policy & legislation and IUCN (The International Union for Conservation of Nature) courses. During the course of this work I was interviewed for my contribution to the City of Johannesburg's C40 Climate Action Plan & awarded the Nedbank Local Hero Award for 2020 & an NSPCA Commendation during the COVID pandemic. I remain in the field developing efficiencies as a urban species-specialist rescuer & wildlife relocator while actively directing strategy & development within four leading organizations. As a Promoter-type personality with broad corporate and NPO Sector skills, I enjoy shaping organizations & building capacity within people from the grass-roots level.
