Following nearly 30 years of permanent employment, I now work as the director of Andibee, working mainly on small and medium size embedded projects. I have substantial design experience with STM32F series of micro controllers and a number of legacy processors dating back to the 8051 and 68000 series of devices.I am currently working on several projects involving one using USB hub devices, 3G and 4G modems and embedded memory technology, one involving MEMS sensor devices for drone flight control and positioning and another that requires Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and ZWave interfaces. I joined Davis Derby in 2008 as a electronics/software design engineer working on the TruckLog range of products. In the six years since then I have worked with a small team of skilled contractors developing several products currently in production. The majority of the products are based on STM32F series (ARM Cortex) processors with a range of peripheral devices. I am responsible for the requirements capture, hardware design, some embedded software and in most cases the allocation of work to the contractors. I spend a considerable amount of time writing .Net (in C#) programs to interface to the embedded systems for both end users and for development testing.

I worked as an independent contractor developing a range of products for different customers and providing support to various projects within Ericsson. I designed a range of vehicle (GSM based) tracking devices and worked on a studio quality audio recording device.In addition I worked part time as a Youth Worker, between September 2002 until August 2007.

I joined Ericsson to work on the development of data routing hardware just as the internet was really beginning to come into public focus. Over seven years I worked on developing Motorola and Intel based hardware for X.25, frame Relay and IP based routers and then moved into system testing for ATM switches. I also had responsibility for EMC and product approvals for both the EU and US.I spent some periods working in Sweden ( as par of the ATM development).

Beeston

I joined GEC Plessey as a junior development engineer following graduation in 1991. I spent three years in hardware development, working on 68000 based processor boards in SDH transmission equipment. I also worked on software written in assembly language (yes, that really did happen). This was still very much a learning period, working for experienced electronics engineers in a large company with very detailed design procedures.
