The Space Ideas Hub is a division of the world renowned Space Research Centre at the University of Leicester. The role of the Space Ideas Hub is to work with local industry to transfer technology and knowledge developed for space to solve current industrial technical challenges.

Responsible for the commercial reltationship between Hydro Systems and Rolls-Royce under a 10-year framework contract

Responsible for the delivery and validation of all the tools required to assemble the Trent XWB engine, including the commercial aspects of the project as a whole. Delivered the highest percentage of validated tools by the Engine Passed to Test Date and zero uncontained tooling issues compared to previous new engine projects.

Overall responsibility for commercial, procurement and tendering activities. Providing frameworks and strategic direction for tender return to win key projects. Delievered in excess of £20M worth of bids, with significant wins

Lead and direct a portfolio of projects particularly in train refurbishment and track geometry measurement. Portfolio value ~£10M. Won £6M+ worth or Train Refurbishment contracts, delivered to a high standard with praise from the customer and the press.

Responsible for three areas of business: Track Geometry Measurement, Vehicle Enhancements and Installation Projects. Grew opportunities funnel to £15M and delivered contract wins in line with new strategy

Responsible for winning and delivering all major projects in the Trains Engineering and Performance Division. Developed new business stream, winning £2M of new work in the first year. Appointed to strengthen project management capability following some significant project overruns.Achievements: Lead project recovery activities to improve project performance and improved processes and provided training to improve our efficiency and profitability. Developed management process and information system to provide early visibility of performance issues on a project by project and sector-wide basis.

Developed active control strategies for rail vehicles to improved ride and curving performance in collaboration with Bombardier Transportation.

Designed suspensions for locomotives including the British Rail Class 60 and Class 92 locomotives, the Channel Tunnel Shuttle locomotive. Responsible for on track testing, particularly ride performance.
