Veterinarian at Brisbane Bird and Exotics Veterinary Services with a current clinic focus on zoological companion animal and wildlife medicine. Short term career goals involve completing a residency in zoological companion animal medicine in the United States to become a board certified specialist. My passions as a veterinarian include gold standard patient and client management, advancing surgical competencies and complex and chronic case management. I am passionate about public education and host The Migratory Vets Podcast - an A&E + Wildlife medicine focused podcast where I use my platform to discuss veterinary subject matter in a casual and growth mindset oriented manner. I have coauthored a book on the birds of Christ University, Bangalore, during my undergraduate degree. I own a blog on wildlife health and conservation where I write and publish articles tailored to deliver scientific research and findings in an easily understandable form to the interested reader.As a veterinary nurse I have 10 years of experience working in small animal nursing and have done rotations in outpatient, surgical, inpatient and emergency departments.As a researcher and writer I have pursued investigations in the field of livestock health, OneHealth and ecosystem conservation. I have published papers in these fields, presented at scientific conferences and pitched research proposals successfully to sponsoring organisations.My role as a veterinary tutor involved teaching practical classes for the second year veterinary subjects of Veterinary Reproduction, Digestive Anatomy and Musculoskeletal Anatomy. The role involved assisting with dissections, demonstrations and helping students perform and achieve the objectives of the practical classes. My extra curricular interests involve dance, music and volunteering time to social change. I am a yoga and meditation trainer for the Heartfulness Institute and conduct free sessions in my locality every week. I have spoken at the UN World Youth Conference on Kindness. I have my Mental Health and First Aid Certification and held the position of Vice President of the Peer Support Network during my time as a student at UQ. As a veterinarian I am regularly involved with Pets in the Park - a national charity involved with providing free veterinary services to pets of homeless individuals.
