As an event and sponsorship planner at BC Hydro my responsibilities included proactively seeking out high value sponsorship opportunities for BC Hydro and reviewing incoming sponsorship applications. As part of this I would negotiate with potential partners to find high profile/high value opportunities for BC Hydro to profile it's brand to key audiences and communities. On the events side I would work internally and externally to plan BC Hydro's presence at various events and oversee the execution. In this role I was placed in Ghana to work with local governments and non-profit organization in order to develop and roll out a communications plan aimed at raising awareness of a new domestic violence legislation passed in Ghana in 2007. The communications plan aspired to educate women of various socioeconomic classes with varying degrees of education about the new law to ultimately encourage its use.

In my first job after university, I was a communications generalist at a small firm that marketed home hardware products to big box stores like Rona and Home Depot. I wrote and updated content on the company's website and set up a content management system. I ensured consistent branding in the digital space, and for physical assets like business cards, uniforms, vehicles and offices.
