* Supervise the Special Information Request Service (SIRS) team which comprises 11 research assistants. The SIRS team provides a high-volume of time-sensitive biometric and visa information critical to refugee claimant adjudications. Ensure that production remains high (by individual employee reports) and business processes are working well. Maintain the current number of research assistants through various hiring processes. Conduct weekly meetings, bilats, statistics gathering and analysis for senior management, PMAs, among other duties.* Lead robot process automation (RPA) project to permanently reduce backlog (now over 8000 cases) of SIRS tasks which will reduce the FTEs required to two. This involves working closely with IT, consultant, business analyst and SMEs in order to stand up the RPA in a live environment.* Act as lead for the Research Directorate for country of origin platform project which seeks to consolidate factual holdings residing in different repositories (SP2016, SP online) in different formats (PDF, Word, HTML) with different production processes for different audiences (internal, external) with an aim for easier searching, access and maintenance. This involves working with other business lines, IT, SMEs and senior management to help implement this project from the Research Directorate perspective in a complex environment.

* Write content on governmental programs for small- and medium-sized businesses for publication on FedDev Ontario's Small Business Services website.* Identify business content, such as funding programs, expert advice, mentoring and other business information for inclusion on our websites.* Keep on top of business trends and political factors (i.e. pertinent legislation, regulation, political fiscal priorities) to inform the types of content we create.* Maintain the accuracy and currency of our content on a regular schedule; ensure that content is written in an accessible style.* Worked on surge team to assess time-sensitive applications against complex program and financial criteria for Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) Steel and Aluminum program.

* Conducted interviews with stakeholders for requirements gathering for user stories in agile DevOps environment to develop components of ERP software solution.* Created and refined requirements with consultation with product owner and developers in an iterative process.* Conducted UAT and QA testing on user stories, as well as identified bugs and possible solutions.* Analysed large data sets, flows and business rules in the context of workflow mapping for existing and future state releases. * Conceived and implemented way to handle non-urgent requests in DevOps to relieve pressure on developers and at the same time address these requests in a timely fashion. * Improved inbox process for team by analysing and creating new process to streamline responses.* Initiated concept for feature request site using user stories and end user up voting to drive future development decisions.

* Worked as import specialist of all animal, plant and food commodities imported into Canada which fall under the 13 Acts (e.g. Health of Animals, Plant Protection, Meat Inspection etc.) administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. * Provided advice to importers as to the import requirements for food, plant and animal health commodities which requires in depth knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations and Policy Directives.* Exercised knowledge and judgment in deciding on whether commodities should be allowed into Canada and return this decision to the Canadian Border Service Agency for further action.

* Coordinated CFIA’s internal regulatory development process, aligning it with the Privy Council Office and Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) processes. The files managed by this process were secret and often urgent. * Worked closely with a consultant in the development of a workflow tracking and reporting application based on the CCM Mercury platform, including the analysis of business requirements. * Acted as database administrator and super-user and provided one-on-one training of co-workers on the new system.* As project leader in an extended functional team that included subject matter experts, legal services, communications, TBS analyst and stakeholders, created regulatory amendments which adhered to the CDRM for submission to Treasury Board and publication in the Canada Gazette. * Designed and delivered training on the regulatory development process to over 250 people across CFIA. Produced training materials, including videos, from TBS guidance.* Created presentation decks and financial and other reports, as needed, on a wide variety of issues.* Adapted complex guidance material from TBS relating to new regulatory reforms contained in the Cabinet Directive on Regulatory Management (CDRM), into cross-functional flowcharts for use by the team and senior management after interviewing subject matter experts on the processes and validating the results.* As CFIA’s single point of contact on issues pertaining to the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations (SJC), provided advice to senior management, including the drafting of memoranda to President, attended SJC meeting on Parliament Hill and reported proceedings and implications to Privy Council Office.

* Working as a liaison between the finance team and the project management team helped to implement a pilot database for managing major crown projects. * Solved database functionality issues at the end user level by problem solving with the database developer and key subject matter experts of the business rules.* Provided business support services, including financial reporting, to Asset Manager. * Rolled up the Department of Fisheries and Oceans’ National Building Management Plan and Year-End reports. This required establishing relationships and working closely with Property and Facility Managers from four regions across Canada to obtain detailed financial information and to co-edit the final report.

* Provided writing and editing services on social science research papers, and for other written communications products (Q&As, briefing notes, etc.) for the Department. * Managed the publication of research papers, from resolving subject-matter expert issues to the contracting of editors/translators, and through to the physical printing and Web publication. * Collected, analyzed and synthesized current media and Web information to produce time-sensitive and critical communications products (e.g. same-sex marriage file) for daily use by the Privy Council Office.* Published and edited a semi-annual newsletter on family justice issues (distribution of over 900 copies to internal and third-party clients), soliciting contributions from all provincial and territorial offices.* Working with Minister’s Office staff and key policy lawyers, wrote and edited, for Minister’s signature, correspondence which related to sensitive issues dealt with by the Department of Justice, such as euthanasia, marijuana, same-sex marriage, Charter and constitutional issues, impaired driving and abortion, among others. The correspondents ranged from Chief Justices to the average citizen.

* Wrote workflow process and best practice documents for new and existing business processes. Interviewed subject matter experts and created documentation to explicate more efficient business processes. * Responsible for the monthly financial billing cycles, including troubleshooting. Provided financial reports from heterogeneous systems to senior management.
