I spent my career in IT so far working more on the network and server side of the field.My time with L'Hote Company was spent maintaining their servers remotely that were stored in a Colocation. Should physical work need to be performed I would call the Colocation technicians and schedule the work. I also did a fair amount of daily consulting with a radiology group; I made sure their connectivity to the web was up as much as possible, so the doctors sending and receiving studies would get their studies returned as soon as possible.After L'Hote, I moved to Professional Technologies, an MSP in the Mid-Missouri region. I helped the company move from a small computer repair shop with 1 tech (me) into a regional MSP employing 4 full time techs who manage 1000+ endpoints remotely. It was a lot of project management, rapid ticket response, and fast paced learning to get the company to that point, but I'm satisfied that the work I did helped move them forward every step of the way.Now I'm working internal IT as a Systems Administrator (officially, more DevOps unofficially) at Flat Branch Home Loans. It's not as fast paced as an MSP, but I'm getting more time to work on projects with long-lasting benefits (decommission old servers, install new EPYC systems, adding more security and monitoring, work on standardizing the technology departments toolset and internal KBs), as well as doing some coding to help bolster what our department can offer the rest of the company.
