Bulwell Academy

Having qualified as an outstanding teacher in my QTS training year I was promoted to launch a new department which would spearhead the academy’s business and enterprise specialism. During my tenure I established a strong and purposeful identity which goes beyond teaching business by reaching out into the community to support local businesses, improve unemployment and provide young people with a practical context for their studies. As department leader I was accountable for staff training and development, student achievement and an annual budget. I regularly engaged in self-assessment, action planning and data analysis which informs and directs my future practice. In terms of achievements, whilst under my leadership the department was been judged as ‘good’ through all internal reviews. In terms of my individual practice, I qualified as an outstanding practitioner in 2011 and was graded by Ofsted in 2011 as ’good’ with many outstanding features. In this role i was influential in enhancing the business and enterprise specialism and contributing to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development of students within the academy. In particular the academy is now renowned for the partnerships with business leaders such as Experian’s Sir John Peace which I have facilitated.

I planned and managed business studies revisions centres nationally for students who require additional support in order maximizing their AS or A2 grades. My role involved liaising with students and parents to assess their individual needs, planning and co-coordinating engaging sessions that enable the students to make progress towards their personal goals.

As well as customer care, security and most fundamentally sales activity within the store. When working as a project manager for Men’s Fashion brand toiletries. I had the responsibility of developing and delivering Christmas 2009 gift ranges for No7 for Men, Botanics Men’s and Hackett. I also developed and approved all men’s proprietary lines such as Lynx, Nivea for Men and Gillette. In this role I developed numerous management skills, and gained an in-depth understanding of leading cross- functional business projects. A crucial aspect of this role was developing business relationships with colleagues and suppliers in Europe and the Far East.
