Portfolio Management:•Actively manage over $900MM in commercial real estate loans. •Responsible and accountable for credit underwriting and origination of new credits from existing and/or new customers to include renewals, modifications, and annual reviews. Make appropriate loan structure recommendations.•Collect updated borrower financial information in accordance with periodic reporting requirements and complete scheduled loan reviews.•Ensure, by working with the Relationship Managers and the Borrowers, that all correspondence and updated information is maintained in credit files (i.e. approvals, financials reporting and documentation related to renewals, modifications, forbearances and waivers, etc.).•Responsible for maintaining a positive and professional relationship with customers and business partners (which include third party lenders, attorneys, relationship managers, and other external parties)•Conducts trouble shooting and problem solving for routine to moderately complex issues.•Conducts analysis of routine to moderately complex nature, makes determination of course of action, and makes recommendations to management.Special Assets:•Support Special Assets Portfolio Managers with detailed analysis of financial statements to identify, interpret, and explain root cause of trends in operating performance, financial condition and cash flow as these relate to credit risk and events of defaults.•Prepares Problem Loan Reports, loan reviews, and modifications such as forbearance and risk grade changes.•Performs analysis of various client reports to value collateral, such as A/R & A/P agings, and computes the borrowing base pursuant to the loan agreement.•Prepares documentation for outside counsel on all legal issues.•Confirm and track borrowers’ compliance with loan conditions and covenants.•Order and/or perform property inspections and/or valuation updates on real estate collateral for SOX Control

• Utilizing advanced excel functions, produce detailed valuation models to forecast various key metrics such as loan-to-value, debt-service coverage ratio, and debt yield• Underwrite and structure investor and owner-occupied real estate credit transactions, renewals, refinances, internal memorandums and change-in-terms based on the current interest rate and risk profile• Successfully manage a $60MM real estate portfolio comprised of commercial real estate properties located throughout California ranging from industrial buildings to low-income housing apartment complexes • Proactively analyzing, marketing, and maintaining a loan participations portfolio with over $50MM in total commitments

• Spread and analyze financial statements for various companies to accurately track covenants such as loan-to-value, debt-service coverage ratio, debt-to-net-worth and verified liquidity ratio• Accurately manage Sunwest Bank’s stress test analysis to remain compliant with the rules and regulations enforced by the FDIC audits• Utilizing advanced Excel formulas and charts, produce monthly reports for the board of directors measuring the bank’s portfolio in respect to the loan policy limits for each specific loan type such as commercial real estate, commercial, industrial, trucking

• Analyze corporate yields by automating Excel spreadsheets using Bloomberg’s application programming interface (“API”) which facilitated over $3MM in profits• Troubleshoot and construct Excel Macros using Visual Basic for Applications (“VBA”) to increase operational efficiency and significantly reduce reporting errors• Conduct research using Bloomberg to generate bi-weekly news reports on publicly traded companies that highlight significant factors such as quarterly performance that may affect the company’s ability to meet their financial obligations and bond payments

The Applied Security Analysis Program is comprised of six undergrad students. In a small team, the students actively manage a moderate-to-aggressive growth fund with over $400,000 AUM.
