At CU Boulder, I used a kinetic "Vlasov" simulation and spacecraft data to study earth's auroral regions. In particular, I studied energization mechanisms of earthward traveling electrons which lead to the visual display of lights.

I successfully showed that the primary energization mechanism of earthward traveling electrons is due to a structure called a double layer.
