Global Cardiac Pipeline Leader
CurrentResponsible for leading a cross-functional team in a matrix organization to achieve business objectives with our commercial interventional and surgical cardiac products around the globe. Ensure development and execution of near- and long-term product roadmaps that aligns to business strategy and achieves P&L targets. Develop and coach others to build leadership capabilities and promote effective execution of team priorities.
Product Development Leader / Director Of Program Development
CurrentI am a project leader at Gore, working toward product success with an exceptional team at startup company Pipeline Medical Technologies, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gore. I ensure that project milestones, trial and commercialization strategy, and business objectives are aligned to the parent company goals and funding conditions. Our product aims to transform mitral valve therapy through a transseptal chordal repair that combines surgical effectiveness with transcatheter safety.
Global Commercial Product Leader
I have global responsibility for the GORE CARDIOFORM family of occluders - permanently implanted devices used to close atrial septal defects and patent foramen ovale in the heart. As a business execution role, my responsibility is to the long-term business success, portfolio strategy, and clinical fitness for use of the products. I lead and coordinate amazing teams on five continents to create a cohesive strategy for excellent business outcomes and exceptional customer experiences. I work closely with colleagues from many functions while partnering with interventional cardiologists around the globe. My job is to ensure that our customers and patients receive a safe and effective device that does what we say it will do.
Product Specialist
As a Product Specialist I had general oversight of a medical device and it’s product strategy - similar to a Senior Product Manager but with more responsibilities, I ensured product success by working closely with teams from engineering, business, marketing, regulatory, sales, manufacturing, and clinical functions, in addition to partnering with clinicians across the globe. Pulmonary Valved Conduit: I spent 2.5 years leading a new product development effort for a breakthrough-designated technology for pulmonary valve replacement. I was responsible for setting product strategy and defining a pathway to commercialization, defining clinical readiness in close partnership with clinicians from the US and Japan, influencing technical teams in design iterations, determining a clinical-regulatory strategy, and focusing our engineering and manufacturing teams. The outcome was a successful Early Feasibility Study that was executed on time and delivered needed data and clinical understanding. Seeing new, life-saving technology be implanted successfully for the first time in a pediatric population has been a highlight of my career. Septal Occluders: I spent 4 years years working with the GORE CARDIOFORM Septal Occluder, which is a permanently implanted device to close atrial septal defects and patent foramen ovale in the heart. I led it through US clinical trials for multiple indications, supported ongoing sales and commercial launches on four continents, and guided manufacturing and design changes along the way.
Clinical Bioengineer
I was an artificial heart engineer working with patients who have both short-term and long-term ventricular assist devices. I was on the flight team responsible for emergency VAD patient transports and implantation of short-term devices. Troubleshooting of equipment problems and monitoring patients in-house.Responsibilities: Clinical management of mechanical circulatory support devices in the operating room, intensive care units, and step-down units. Device malfunction troubleshooting and reporting. Implementation of emergency procedures. Patient and staff education and training, on-call services for emergency patient transports and device implantations.
Graduate Student Researcher
My graduate research focused on the application of degradable biomaterials to aid the heart in repair following a heart attack. I synthesized and applied materials both as an epicardial patch or an intramyocardial injectable hydrogel. A significant portion of the research involved using these materials as depots for delivery of bioactive molecules that can aid in the regeneration process.Responsibilities: Design, implement, and report on scientific studies related to the development of biomaterials for cardiovascular applications. Responsibilities include polymer chemistry, material characterization, drug delivery studies, polymer processing, biocompatilbility testing, technical writing of research for publication, presentation of results at conferences, writing and submission of grant applications, training and managing undergraduate and intern engineers.
Clinical Bioengineer
Responsible for the daily activities of a small engineering team. Engineer responsbilities included patient monitoring, device preparation for implantation, device start-up and monitoring in the OR, patient transports, device troubleshooting, ordering and billing.
