Profile bio

About Daniel Swan

What I love most is facilitating the work of other people to produce meaningful insights through research design, statistical analysis, data visualization, and other work with their data.As a graduate student at the University of Texas, I fulfilled a variety of roles. I served as a teaching assistant for a variety of courses including introductory statistics (both undergraduate and graduate) in addition to graduate courses on ANOVA/ANCOVA/ATI, multiple regression, SEM/latent variable modeling, programming in R, and research design. I served as a research assistant collaborating on the preparation of manuscripts and technical reports/memos, research design, analysis, and statistical software programming. I have also provided statistical and research design consulting to students and occasionally faculty as a methodological consultant for the College of Education's statistical consulting unit (SMARTER consulting) as well as providing workshops on power analysis and introductory R programming. Most recently, I worked for the University of Oregon as a part of the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) Statistics, Website and Training contract. I helped update the WWC's handbook for study review and research synthesis, and am a named contributor to the WWC's Handbooks. I also developed training materials to prepare reviewers to become certified in the WWC's Standards and Procedures, including bringing the single-case design and regression discontinuity design trainings so they are available only asynchronously, and revamping the training system after the release of the What Works Clearinghouse Procedures and Standards Handbook, version 5.0. I also work as a part of the Prevention Science Institute's methodologists, supporting the work of faculty in developing grant applications through assisting with analysis and interpreting results for publication.

Listed skills include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, Customer Service, and 15 others.
