βπππππ‘ππππ ππ π‘βπ π€ππππ ππ πβππππ, π€π ππππ ππ’π πππππ‘ππ π‘ ππππππ‘πππββ¦.This has been my experience in life, both personally and professionally.I had been working in community pharmacy for over 12 years. I loved helping patients and the people I worked with. But for me, I knew there was more I wanted to do. I hit a ceiling with my role, just comfortably cruising along with no real sense of direction. My long hours and the demanding nature of my managerial role did not give me the space to explore my curiosity and desire for more professional fulfilment.I was exhausted. So I FINALLY took a risk, left my comfort zone and decided to explore other opportunities. It was one of my best decisions.I broadened my network, sought mentors, studied further to become a consultant pharmacist and connected with others to learn from their stories. This opened up so many opportunities.I now have a rewarding career that spans community pharmacy, primary care, tutoring at university, Home Medicines Reviews (HMRs), consulting with primary health networks (PHNs) and mentoring pharmacists. What I'm discovering through my journey is that the real risk lies not in πβππππ, but in πππππππ‘.Professionally, I have a few areas of particular interest, including:- Training and education: I provide training, education and advice to different stakeholders including PHNs, the private sector and healthcare professionals about initiatives and approaches to improve patient care.- Mentorship: helping students, interns, and early career pharmacists find and create fulfilling opportunities and career paths. I have benefited immensely from being mentored and I am eager to share my learnings, experience and insights to empower others to reach their full potential.- Mental health and resilience- Pharmacogenomics (PGx): tailoring medications to individuals based on their genetics.- Lifestyle medicine: ensuring that we donβt just βfixβ things with medications, but looking at people as a whole, considering behavioural, psychological, social and environmental factors to improve their health and well-being.Personally, I love the outdoors and photography, so youβll see me share some of my landscape photos too.If my story resonates with you or if youβre interested in any of these things, connect with me! Iβd love to hear from you.
