As a $32B global telecommunications company, Motorola saw that it could leverage its technology capability within the organization to capture a significant portion of the IP video market.In 2005 I was assigned to build and drive the rapid, profitable growth of the business unit. With full profit and loss, I provided vision and strategy focused on global market expansion, strategic acquisitions and alliances, new products and operational excellence. I oversaw all functional departments through eight direct reports. We developed, implemented and executed supply chain, financial control and R&D operating plans, and identified, negotiated and assimilated acquisitions in N.A, China and Europe. I also drove a low cost manufacturing strategy, and recruited, coached and developed a high performing leadership team.Over these four years, gross margins went to 25% and annual earnings to $75M, we captured #1 global market share, and reduced operating costs by $30M.My prior roles included...General Manager, Satellite Broadcast Network Systems 1999 – 2005 Promoted from VP and given P&L to continue growing this 300+ employee, $300M division. I developed innovative product platforms, redesigned new service and support programs, and enhanced the product portfolio through industry partnerships.It was another great success, with increased annual revenues of approximately $100M, a 15% return on sales, and an 80% market share.VP, Sales and Marketing, Satellite Broadcast Network Systems 1996 – 1999 Rapidly changing technologies and customer requirements were putting increased pressure on this division to strengthen its customer and market focus. I ran P&L for this $250M division with a 50-person sales and marketing team. We grew revenues $50M and sustained a 20% annualized sales growth. We also launched a leading broadcast satellite system in Canada that generated aggregate $400M in product sales.
