Assists in the operating room with implants and explants of devices. Focusing on being a consultant to the Surgeon about the different devices that we offer at the U of A-Medical Center. We are also required to take 24 hour call days through out the month.Follow up with the patients once they are out of surgery working with the entire cardiothoracic team to ensure the device is working properly. Also, educating the family, patient, medical staff, as well as the community on artificial heart devices. Community outreach is also a part of the job, reaching out to the University of Arizona science programs to allow students to come in and shadow our program. Exposing kids from 3rd grade to medical school to other opportunities in the field of medicine.All of the devices are checked on a regular basis to make sure that they are working properly and ready for use.
