Graduate StudentUniversity Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Aug 2016 - Dec 2022Urbana, Illinois, United StatesDuring my program, I regularly used the statistical software STATA to handle, manipulate, and analyze large data sets such as data from the US Census or the American Community Survey (ACS). For example, my job market paper, the first chapter of my dissertation, uses data from the 2006-2014 ACS merged with other data such as the TIGER/Line Shapefiles from the US Census. I perform all analysis in STATA.I also use a wide range of quantitative social study design approaches in my studies. For example, in my job market paper, I use an instrumental variables (IV) strategy to estimate the causal impact of the labor supply of undocumented immigrants on the probability of an elderly American "aging in place," that is, staying out of a nursing home. I further investigate the impact of the Secure Communities (SC) program on the labor supply of undocumented immigrants using the latest two-way fixed effects (TWFE)/difference-in-differences (DD) methodology.I have written two working papers throughout my studies to convey my results on the important contribution and effect of immigrant labor on the living arrangements of elderly Americans. One of them, The Effect of Immigration on the Living Arrangements of Elderly Natives, won second prize in the Annual Student Paper competition by the International Health Economics Association. I have presented or will present at • IHEA World Congress, July 2023• ASSA Annual Meeting (Poster), January 2022• APPAM Student Summer Seminar Series, May 2021• Midwest Economics Association, March 2021• IU Health Mini-Conference, Indiana University, December 2019• AERUS, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, April 2019• H2D2 Research Day (Poster), University of Michigan, March 2019In 2018, I was awarded a Summer Research Fellowship from the Department of Economics at the University of Illinois. -
