Seneca Ridge

Start March 2015 - Dialysis Technician. Working with Peritoneal and Hemodialysis outpatients while studing for the National Certification.Performing safe and effective dialysis treatments to patients requiring dialysis to sustain life.Sets up dialysis treatment equipment per orders.Inspects and evaluates dialysis access sites and reports conditions to the RN as appropriate.Obtains blood samples and culture specimens as directed.Cannulates fistula or graft per established protocols.Delivers dialysis treatment utilizing approved procedures.Calculates fluid removal based on documented nursing assessment and/or MD orders.Monitors patient's vital signs during treatment and records observations and interventions in EMR.Reports patient status changes to RN as appropriate.Responds to patient/treatment complications as per unit protocol and under direction of RN.Administers Normal Saline Bolus in response to hypotension as per unit protocol and under direction of RN.Utilize Clinical Care system, fax machine, basic computer entry, and retrieval of lab results as necessary.Completes unit based clinical competency education requirements.

Inpatient Pharmacy

Working under the clinical supervision of a Registered Pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medicines and related supplies throughout Rochester General Hospital and all of its affiliates.Answers and triages telephone calls, referring any drug information questions to the PharmacistOperates computerized data systems.Performs rounds to the floor as assigned, dropping off medication and picking up ordersFills Alert Trays according to written schema, policies and procedures, and records dispensing records in a computerized tracking system.Fills and documents medication orders in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.Assists in inventory control including ordering, stock rotation, and return of outdated medications.Prepares and delivers unit dose medications.In accordance with written policy and procedures, repacks bulk stock into unit dose packages.Follows written procedures to manufacture compounds (solutions, creams, oral syringes, etc.)Picks Medications from fill lists for restocking the automated dispensing machines (ADM).In accordance with policy and procedure, conducts monthly department inspections and nursing unit inspections removing expired product and then documents the inspection.Assists in training and orienting new staff members as required.Develops, implements, and coordinates quality improvement efforts.

Radiology Department

Assist MRI Technologists in the preparation of patients needing an MRI exam. Maintain department supplies as needed.Maintain documentation protocol according to HIPPA standards.
