As a seasoned education professional with over 20 years of experience, I am proud to have made significant contributions to the field of education. My career in education began with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas State University followed by a Master of Science in Mid-Management from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Throughout my career, I have played an active role in the Garland Independent School District (GISD), serving as a Principal at Sam Houston Middle School since 2004. In my current position, I am responsible for managing a campus of 1075 students and 110 professional and paraprofessional employees.In addition to my role at Sam Houston Middle School, I have also made significant contributions to GISD through my involvement in numerous committees and initiatives. I have co-presented at the 2022 Texas Parent Engagement conference on parent communication program called Talking Points, served as a table facilitator for the 2022-23 GISD Bond Steering Committee, and participated in the HR Interview Team for the selection of various administrative positions within the district. I also served as a presenter at the 2016 AVID National Conference and have supported the implementation of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) School Wide Pilot and AVID Excel for ESL students.In addition to my involvement with GISD, I have also been an active participant in various professional development programs throughout my career. I completed the Parent Engagement program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2018, participated in Project Based Learning World in 2016, and completed the Advancing Improvement in Education (AIE) program in 2015, I have also completed Coaching for Results Levels I&II.Over the years, I have had the privilege of leading and mentoring many professionals within the education field. As a mentor and coach, I have prepared assistant principals, teachers, and other professional personnel for their respective interviews and advancements to the next level. Throughout my career, I have strived to make a difference in the field of education by actively participating in various initiatives and development programs and contributing to the success of my students, colleagues, and community. I am deeply committed to the education field and look forward to continuing to make an impact in the years to come.
