During my deployment in Iraq, I supervised approximately 20 employees and a 15-man task-organized squad and provided security escorts for civilians. I planned travel for security escorts and trained soldiers on security-related procedures. I executed the Troop Leading Process for operations, including Vehicular Combat Patrols, Combat Logistics Patrols, Quick Reaction Force, Vehicle Recovery, and Force Protection Security. I coordinated and briefed civilian contractors for combat missions involving up to 40 civilian vehicle assets. I was charged with the care, maintenance, and accountability of at least seven vehicle gun platforms and was responsible for more than $1 million worth of equipment. I served as a counselor and mentor to other soldiers and ensured the welfare, accountability, administrative readiness, and mission readiness of my assigned subordinates. Selected accomplishments follow: Receipt of Army Achievement Medal in 2008 for serving as Convoy Commander, leading 10 Combat Logistics Patrols and 5 Combat Vehicle Recovery Missions and helping develop the SOP for the Mission Tracking Boards and Mission Trail Books. Implementation of training, mentoring, and team building events that resulted in increased morale and squad cohesiveness within one month of assignment. Supervision of squad training to ensure achievement of highest standards. Increase in squad's overall efficiency and competency through subtle yet effective leadership style. No safety violations, vehicular accidents, or major injuries during deployment. Lead Squad to win the Battalion Command Sergeant Major squad competition.
