I have had a varied business background, even while working for a single employer for 39 years. I started my career as a teller and eventually retired as chairman of a large regional bank that had evolved from the original small local bank where I began. I accomplished all of this without virtue of a college degree. During those 39 years, I had assignments in all areas of the bank with the exception of the Trust Department. My strength is embracing change and moving forward with growth strategies. I have the ability to bring order out of chaos and have always been able to identify talented people and develop them into high functioning, goal-oriented managers.I have always had an entrepreneurial streak, so I retired from the banking industry and began my second career--this time in manufacturing. I acquired a small precast concrete manufacturer and in 20+ years have grown this business into a pre-eminent position as a prefered supplier to the highway construction industry in the mid-Atlantic region. This is a particularly challenging time for state highway departments because of our crumbling infrastructure after years of neglect. We aim to be in the forefront of this construction effort.My companies build noise reduction and retaining walls, barrier dividers, and in addition, cast stone products for the masonry building industry. We also manufacture large overhead signage for highways. In addition to manufacturing these products for highway construction, we also are in the business of leasing and installing temporary barrier for road construction and other projects; we install overhead signage, precast box culverts and bridge beams.In my free time, I enjoy working on projects at a 100 acre farm that I have owned for 30-odd years. I enjoy being out of doors and the solitude it provides me. I also enjoy traveling and seeing other parts of the world, some golf, and visiting our coastal vacation homes.
