American Visions is a 1/2 hour talk show bringing important issues to a South Asian audience, and offering guidance in navigating a new culture to recent immigrants. Broadcast in English, with some Punjabi commentary spoken by co-host Harpreet Singh Toor. I'm proud and honored to be the only non-Punjabi host on this groundbreaking cable TV channel. Look for Jus Punjabi to go national this October!News and Views is an hour long live re-cap of the news of the week from a US perspective for a mostly Punjabi audience -- complete with viewer call ins.

I spent eight years at Rubenstein Associates where I mastered the art of media relations in one of the city's most high-pressure and succesful media PR shops. It's impossible to spend time at RA and not learn the intricacies and subtlties ( and not so subtle) arts of media, professional, and client relations, and gain insight into how to manage expectations among the highest echelons of leadership in the corporate, social, and not-for-profit worlds of NYC. All with a keen sense of the highest ethical values.

This is where I cut my teeth in learning how to use communication strategies to effect grassroots social change. BPL is the fourth largest public library system in the country, with more than 10 million users annually. Like its two other NYC public library system companions BPL nearly faced extintion from draconian budget cuts until a huge visibility campaign (Fair Share for Brooklyn -- named by the great Shelia Johnson) rallied grass roots public support that shamed the Mayor's office and the City Council into restoring services. A great campaign that proved you can fight city hall -- and win!
