Implemented a division wide product cost management and governance process based on the Six Sigma DMAIC process initially focusing on material cost. Successfully reduced cost by $273 Million.Provided direct leadership to seven worldwide product groups to train, coach and mentor all levels of management and staff to ensure the smooth adoption of the new product cost and improvement processes. Functioned as Safety Manager for the division. Defined and implemented global safety teams similar to product improvement teams composed of management and staff representatives from all product groups. Strengthened the company's business by functioning as the Deployment Champion leading the continued implementation and utilization of the Lean Six Sigma Process. Championed change in the division related to New Product Introduction (NPI), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), and the Caterpillar Production System (CPS). Achieved Caterpillar Six Sigma Certification for Black Belt and Master Black Belt levels meeting required knowledge and cost savings performance goals. Greater than $6.5 Million saved. Functioned as a division internal consultant providing coaching to executive and departmental managers to define and implement process and product improvements using the DMAIC and DMEDI Six Sigma processes. Consistently utilized problem solving, continuous improvement, and statistical analysis methodologies, such as 5 Why, PFMEA, CAPA, C&E, 5S, Regression, Correlation, etc... to define and implement positive improvements. Trained and coached Six Sigma Yellow, Green, and Black Belts plus provided lower experienced Master Black Belts with my high level of manufacturing, supply chain, plant engineering, and operational knowledge. A total of 166 managers, engineers and staff personnel trained. Provided direct Master Black Belt support to 17 Black Belts leading a minimum of three process improvement projects with a cost reduction goal of $250,000 per project. Realized over $12 Million in cost reduction. Performed as the Lead Six Sigma change agent at the departmental and program level by supporting the development of key process metrics required to reach Caterpillar's Vision 2020. Provided leadership to the Purchasing and Quality Departments of the Mapleton and Peoria Foundry with the responsibility for the complete supply chain including supplier definition, just-in-time delivery and supplier quality assurance requirements of raw materials and operations equipment and supplies used to supply engine castings to Caterpillar engine manufacturing facilities. Supervised a staff of 6 Purchasing Buyers, supporting staff, and a Metallurgical Laboratory composed of a Plant Metallurgist and 12 Process Technicians with the key responsibility of assuring the facilities were supplied and producing quality products meeting customer expectations based on ISO 9000 and QS 9000 acceptance criteria. Defined and coordinated the management of a contracted manufacturing facility in Detroit, MI. to machine engine heads meeting critical to quality defined by the customer at a reduced cost. Successfully transitioned the Seal Ring Foundry from Peoria, IL to Toccoa, GA to improve supply chain distribution, quality, and reduce annual cost.Functioned as the Global Supplier Synergy Team Leader and defined a worldwide order-to-delivery strategy for cast engine block and head components supplied to manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe, UK and the United States. Provided quality process and cost improvement guidance to a large engine manufacturing facility in Kiel, Germany to increase quality and improve cost effectiveness.

Managed the Business Accounting Office and New Product & Component Planning Department of the Hydraulic Excavator Development Center responsible for developing and implementing hydraulic excavators worldwide.Provided global product and component team leadership and guidance to define and implement the 300 Series Caterpillar hydraulic excavators built in Belgium, Japan and the United States. Successfully improved the 300A and launched the 300B-Series in 1997 and defined the C-Series for implementation in 2000. Significantly increased PINS in all market segments and rose to the market leader in the large excavator worldwide market. Supported the development and implementation of a hydraulic excavator manufacturing facility in Xuzhou, China. Provided the leadership to meet the required criteria for the Hydraulic Excavator Development Center to enter the worldwide competition for the Caterpillar Chairman's Quality Award. Successfully won the award in 1997.
