•Develop strategic priorities for the Ohio banking industry and oversee state government relations engagement for the Association. •Collaborate with stakeholders, including member bankers, state elected officials, staff, and other industry leaders, to build coalitions to achieve goals of the Association. •Engage both proactively and reactively on regulatory issues affecting the membership at the state and federal level. •Provide legal counsel to the Association as well as oversee outside counsel on key issues.

•Lobby members of the Ohio General Assembly and the Governor’s Administration to maintain a competitive business climate in the areas of workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, employment law, labor relations, insurance, tort reform, and other human resource issues. •Serve as staff liaison to the Ohio Chamber’s Workers’ Compensation and Labor & Employment committees to form positions on legislation and develop solutions for long and short-term problems. •Educate members on changes to labor and employment laws and communicate in a manner that is easy for business owners to understand. •Work with outside legal counsel on issues affecting the Ohio Chamber and to submit amicus curiae briefs urging the court to uphold pro-business laws, particularly in the area of workers’ compensation, employment law, and reforms to Ohio’s civil justice system. •Draft and negotiate contracts and partnership agreements on behalf of the Ohio Chamber. •Advise the Ohio Chamber on human resources and employment law compliance. •Conduct research on legislation and legal issues throughout the country to inform policy discussions on nationwide trends.

•Advised the association on legal issues including proposed legislation, contracts, joint marketing agreements, employment issues, and regulatory and compliance issues. •Counseled 800+ new franchised car, truck, and motorcycle dealers on employment, taxation, and other legal issues related to the management of an automobile dealership and the sale of automobiles through our legal hotline. •Worked closely with senior counsel to maintain a workers’ compensation group rating program, a legal education program for members, and the AutoCAP mediation and advertisement review programs run in conjunction with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

- Conducted first level document review using Relativity and Clearwell, litigation software platforms.- Analyzed counsel-issued litigation protocol to determine responsiveness, non-responsiveness, and privilege of electronic documents.- Consistently worked with project managers and newer team members to identify and clarify the scope of responsiveness in counsel-issued protocol.

-Researched claims and drafted recommendations regarding coverage liability under the law in eleven states.-Drafted legal motions for, and collaborated with, Grange’s house counsel.

-Mediated consumer complaints made to the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division regarding automobile dealerships. -Reviewed auto dealership’s advertisements in newspapers to check for compliance with the Truth in Lending Act and the Ohio Consumer Sales Protection Act.

-Read through case files, including complaints and motions, and made preliminary determinations as to how the Court should rule. -Consulted with Judge Cain and his staff attorney to discuss cases and the merits of the motions. -Drafted preliminary opinions.
