• Role as a lead bioinformatics analyst, primarily supporting discovery and translational medicine projects for respiratory (Asthma, COPD), autoimmune (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Rheumatoid Arthritis) and virology (Hepatitis B) disease indications.• Experienced in the application of machine learning and classification methods to identify transcriptomic and proteomic biomarkers for patient stratification and pharmacodynamic (PD) assessment.Specific responsibilities:• Coordinated and managed analysis efforts for microarray gene expression profiling in preclinical disease models in mice and non-human primates. Identified in vivo transcriptomic signatures induced by viral and allergen challenge in animal models of respiratory disease.Impact: Based on recommendations, asthma biomarker teams will perform molecular profiling on matched matrices in current human experimental medicine cohorts, to evaluate the translational value of the identified signatures. • In COPD, performed analysis on serum proteomic multiplex data from an experimental medicine study and a completed Phase II clinical trial to identify biomarkers correlated with disease severity and drug response.Impact: COPD biomarker team will validate identified biomarkers in future experimental medicine studies. • In Hepatitis B, actively involved in the bioinformatic characterization of the woodchuck model of Hepatitis B. Tasks included analysis of 454-derived transcriptome sequencing data to identify sequences with sufficient specifity for microarray probeset construction, pathway analysis of microarray expression data to identify intrahepatic gene expression differences between resolved and chronically infected animals.Impact: Identified pathways and genes are currently being evaluated as potential targets for therapeutic intervention. Manuscripts based on analysis results have been published in Hepatology, the lead journal for the AASLD (American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases)
