First generation college graduate and current Masters of Urban Planning student at New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Services specializing in international development. My interests lies within economic development of Global South countries, and how sustainable their economy is. With my passion in Sustainability, and growing interests in finance, I am looking for opportunities where I can gain experience in Environmental Social Governance and impact investing to see how it can improve low and middle income countries.Projects completed in my previous internships at the American Red Cross and the United Nations, or in my engineering classes, required a great amount of research and analysis, as I worked with large amounts of data. For example, my capstone project on the accessibility of subway stations in New York City helped me understand the importance of finding good data, listening to customers, and delivering findings in a way that could meet the needs of the MTA. Through my research, I conceptualized a formula to better estimate time of arrival, where I equated a 0.5 mile walk to a 0.26 mile travel for a person living with a disability. During my internship at the American Red Cross, I found out that the organization saw an increase of 44% in volunteers after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.During my internship at the United Nations in which we delivered recommendations around lessening the digital divide, the success of our work relied upon my team’s willingness and ability to come together – stakeholders, the public and private sector, and different divisions under the United Nations umbrella. My team built a toolkit for enhancing peace and development through youth policies, made project proposals on clean and affordable energy, as well as programmed an educational event concerning disability inclusiveness along with three colleagues. I thrive in heavily matrix environments and often serve as the main liaison between disparate groups.I am a highly motivated and competitive person who is open to criticism and opportunities to learn and grow. I enjoy part-taking in physical activities and learning new languages. During my undergraduate studies, I have earned a gold medal in New Jersey State Taekwondo tournament and a silver medal in a collegiate tournament. This took place in the same year that I started to participate in taekwondo. From there, I was able to mentor and give advice to my teammates as the captain of the New York University Sport Taekwondo team.Reached me at: jonathandsahn@gmail.com
