Chief Executive Officer
CurrentAs the Commander of an American Legion post, my role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at supporting veterans and fostering community engagement. I am honored to serve approximately 400 legionnaires and oversee the Sons of the Legion, with around 200 members. My leadership extends to guiding their six executive officers, ensuring they align with our mission. The Riders of the Legion also fall under my jurisdiction, and I provide the same guidance and support to them. Additionally, the Auxiliary operates from our building, and I assist them in achieving their important goals.A core aspect of my duties is managing a team of 15 employees and 13 executive officers, ensuring smooth and effective operations. My leadership involves not only overseeing daily tasks but also creating a collaborative and motivated environment for all team members. This includes ensuring cohesive efforts across all groups under our umbrella. One of the key areas I manage is our canteen and gambling operations, which collectively generate around $2 million annually. This involves ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining high service standards, and implementing efficient operational strategies. The canteen serves as a crucial social hub for our members, offering a space for camaraderie and support. Additionally, the gambling operations fund many of our initiatives, making diligent and ethical oversight essential.Planning and executing fundraisers is another significant part of my role. These events are vital for generating the funds needed to support our programs and services for veterans. I work closely with my team to organize events that not only raise money but also engage our community and increase awareness of our mission. This involves coordinating logistics, marketing, and volunteer efforts to ensure fundraising success. By leading with integrity, dedication, and a collaborative spirit, I aim to uphold the values of the American Legion.
