In addition to ongoing management responsibilities, led the development and implementation of the first mobile application for The Kroger Co. Responsibilities included Project Management, Business Analysis, Technical Specialist, Release Coordinator and Customer Relationship Manager throughout the expedited development of the applications. Project was given a three month deadline in which to create both an Android and iPhone application focusing on Digital Coupon functionality. Mobile apps were delivered on time (launched 11/30/2010) with high quality, utilizing a combined version of the Kroger Project Life Cycle and Agile methodologies. Collaborated with the Marketing Department and IS&S Management in order to develop the mobile strategy for The Kroger Co. including the ongoing release plan.

Managed a Java web development team consisting of twelve full time associates, three on shore contracted developers, and ten offshore developers. Primary focus revolved around development of new Java web applications to support Kroger business priorities and initiatives. Resource management responsibilities include hiring/terminating, resource planning, providing technical and managerial leadership, aligning resources to project needs, associate performance management, associate career growth, aligning team/associate goals to departmental objectives, motivating associates and assigning/monitoring all work completed. Technical responsibilities include driving the development of and adherence to Java development standards and procedures, including tool usage (MyEclipse/Mylyn/Subversion/Jira), frameworks (Stripes, Spring) and coding practices (Test Driven Development, Code Reviews, Javadoc). Project responsibilities include collaboration with IT teams to design solutions, create development estimates for all new development projects, managing development efforts utilizing Scrum methodology, ensuring successful development delivery on time/within budget, acting as release coordinator for scheduled development releases, and communicating progress to upper management. All position aspects involve collaboration with business users and Customer Relationship Managers to ensure business needs are being met with high quality Java web applications. Applications developed/supported included Supply Chain, Financial, Store and Key Retailing business groups (over 65 applications total). Worked extensively with Research and Development team on project efforts, and implemented “Sparkplug” – a system for collaborative innovation, enabling associates to provide ideas to management that are voted on and implemented within the organization.

Lead developer and project leader for the Supply Chain Systems Web Development Group. Responsible for assigning and tracking project tasks and ensuring successful project completion for all Supply Chain related web applications being developed. Development languages include ASP, Java, ColdFusion and Perl. Created application data models to be implemented by the database administrators, maintained SQL Server Jobs and stored procedures, and developed applications as requested by Corporate Logistics.

Lead developer and project manager for Business Objects Universe and Report development efforts within the Kroger Supply Chain. Responsibilities included assigning and tracking all projects, project tasks and responsibilities, working with the business to collect requirements, developing data models, developing Business Objects Universes, developing Business Objects Reports, enhancing SQL statements generated by the tool, and supervising/reviewing the creation of Reports by other team members. Primary designer and developer for Kroger’s Corporate Vendor Scorecard, Logistics operational reports, and exception based reports for upper management.

Provided 24x7 technical support for the LS-LM labor management system, including the creation and maintenance of SQL Server scheduled jobs and stored procedures. Responsibilities included initial installation, software upgrades, support and maintenance for 19 distribution centers across the United States. Accommodated business needs by creating SQL and PERL scripts for reporting, data manipulation and data transfer.
