About Donny Li

I am a medical student at McMaster University with a demonstrated interest in student/youth leadership and medical research in oncology and cancer survivorship. Outside of academia, I am a pilot and Civilian Instructor with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets serving as the head aviation ground school instructor at 845 Avro Arrow Squadron teaching the future generation of Canadian pilots. I seek value through global contribution and with a philosophy that aims to inspire those around me to realize their potential to positively impact others. I am also an enthusiast of outdoor adventure, history/international relations, and classical music.     At William Osler, I conduct original research as the primary lead in direct collaboration with the Medical Director of Supportive and Palliative Care, Dr. Martin Robert Chasen. My research focuses are in oncology, survivorship, and palliative care in the hospital and community setting, discovering ways to implement patient-centered care through innovation and technology. Currently, I lead research projects on:· The internationally ESMO-recognized Cancer Survivorship Clinic at Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital. · Our Abbott-sponsored trial on the use of Ensure Protein Max to support the nutritional and metabolic needs of patients receiving chemotherapy. · The Virtual Palliative Home Care Intervention initiated by Osler in 2018 to support patients with accessible and convenient care in the comfort of their homes.At Osler, we are always looking for passionate individuals who want to make a tangible difference in patient lives through research and innovation.
