Donovan assisted foreign workers in their issues involving their stay in Singapore, such as employment, accommodation, meals etc. During this role, he learnt about communicating with foreign workers and what is best suited for their needs.

At UWEEI, Donovan worked with union leaders and companies to reach a common ground for potential disputes and Collective Agreements (CAs). He used the time at UWEEI to understand more about the Employment Act and current CAs to better negotiate for the different employees from unionised companies.

Donovan worked at U FSE to represent freelancers and self-employed persons (SEPs) in Singapore and works towards strengthening their Wage, Welfare and Work Prospects. He was part of the National Private Hire Vehicles Association (NPHVA) and the newly-formed Visual, Audio, Creative Content Professionals Association (Singapore) (VICPA). Donovan worked with the different stakeholders such as private hire drivers, private hire platforms, content creators, different existing associations and government agencies to find solutions on improving the livelihood of freelancers, especially during the challenging period of COVID-19.During his time at U FSE, Donovan was also in the team handling the U FSE Relief Scheme, which aimed to help freelance combi bus, limousine and delivery drivers & riders who do not qualify for the COVID-19 Driver Relief Fund (CDRF) and require additional assistance.

Donovan took charge of the Mass Individuals portfolio, where he researched and analysed based on primary and secondary data to curate and execute strategies to increase giving via regular giving, direct mailers and online platforms. He came up with a one-year strategy plan to increase donations from this portfolio.Donovan helmed the Legacy Giving portfolio, where he worked with law firms, insurance agencies, CPF Board, funeral homes and the public on giving through wills, insurance policies, CPF nominations and memorial giving respectively. He created a 3-year plan for developing the portfolio and increasing awareness of legacy giving to Community Chest, which was something relatively new in the organisation.During this period, Donovan was part of the organising team for Community Chest's annual signature event - Heartstrings Walk 2018 and 2019. He held the roles of Fun Walk and Corporate Volunteers IC in 2018 and Carnival IC for 2019.

Donovan engaged the foreign banks in Singapore for philanthropic activities, e.g. soliciting donations, curating volunteering experiences and creating new initiatives for donations with the public.Donovan was part of the organising team for one of Community Chest's annual signature event - Charity in the Park 2017, where he also took charge of managing over 2,200 social service users from 22 organisations and corporate volunteers.
