Don is a commercial consultant and advisor in liquefied natural gas ("LNG"​) business development, specialising in LNG procurement and small-scale LNG, and the commercial development LNG import terminals, Floating Storage and Regasification Units ("FSRUs"​), LNG-to-power projects, and associated infrastructure.Don is also a professional independent company director. He is Trustee, Deputy Chair and Chair of Audit and Risk Committee with Melanoma NZ. Previous board level experience Independent Director and Board Chair with Chatham Islands Shipping Limited, and Director with both BW Pavilion LNG Pte Ltd and Antillean Gas Ltd. From 2011 to 2016 in Singapore, Don headed up commercial and business development for BW’s Gas Solutions business (the development, ownership and operation of LNG import terminals, FSRUs, FSUs, LNG regasification barges, small-scale LNG ships and LNG supply/sourcing).Don joined BW from Gazprom Marketing and Trading in Singapore where he led their Asia Pacific LNG marketing activities.Prior to Gazprom, Don had a 25 year career with Shell in a various engineering, commercial, trading and business development roles. Most recently in Singapore, he led the commercial development of Shell’s LNG business in South East Asia, including development of LNG import terminal projects. With Shell in The Hague, he traded LNG, negotiated long-term LNG supply deals, and developed LNG import terminal projects. Based in London, he managed the business development of Shell’s gas-fired power generation projects in Latin America and Africa. He started his career with Refining NZ (a then Shell JV, and now called Channel Infrastructure).Don has nearly 40 years of experience in the energy and maritime sectors. He holds a degree in Physics, and a honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has attended executive leadership development programs with both Wharton Business School and Duke Corporate Education, and is a Chartered Member of both the Institute of Directors NZ and Engineering NZ.
