I am responsible for hiring and evaluating both full time employees and offshore contractors. The teams support over 100 customer accounts, nearly 5000 Windows severs and 1000 Linux servers.

Somerville, MA

• Manage 12 Systems Engineers responsible for all new server deployments, server software upgrades and OS patching.
• Support 14 hospitals, 5,000+ servers and 70,000+ customers.
• Leading company effort to develop multi cloud service (AWS, Azure, Google) offering.
• Implemented deployment automation reducing system deployment time from two weeks to one day. Automation tool was used to deploy 600 systems in five days.
• Developed department web site allowing customers to view service offerings and model costs associated with services, reducing tickets for budgetary quotes by half.
• Improved patching process and strategy reducing the number of employees performing monthly patching from six to four.

• Managed a team of six senior engineers that developed new Unix and Linux based product offerings for customers and operational teams. New products resulted in $200,000 annually in new revenue.

• Managed a team of Unix and storage administrators responsible for all Unix, Linux, TSM and storage operations in a 24/7 support model.
• Team supported a global Unix environment with staff and customers in the U.S, Germany, China supporting 1500 AIX and Linux systems running SAP.
• Responsible for EMC, 3PAR and NetApp storage systems.
• Managed TSM environment and was responsible for backups of Unix, Linux and Windows systems.
• Assisted with the build out of operations in the Mexico office. Hired and trained the Unix staff in the Mexico office.
• Developed OSX staff from generalist in Unix, storage and backups to SMEs in those areas, improving the reliability, efficiency and quality of service.

Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area

• Administrated several IBM Power 740/750/780 systems in a virtualized environment running AIX.
• Configured and managed the first virtual AIX systems for the state of North Carolina using Virtual I/O Servers (VIOS).
• Used virtual systems to reduce the need for physical IBM servers by 50%.
• Responsible for all LPAR builds and managing all patching of the OS, VIOs, HMC and NIM systems.
• Supported Solaris 10 servers and Sun Cluster environments.

Augusta, Maine

• Rebuilt State of Maine Driver’s license IT infrastructure replacing all HP systems with Sun and Dell servers. This resulted in uptime improving from 60% to over 99%.
• Installed and managed the first NetApp storage devices used by the State of Maine. Configured NetApp devices in a clustered environment offering SAN and NAS storage to Windows, Unix and Linux environments.
• Maintained a Veritas cluster running on two Sun Fire 890 servers. The cluster was used for an Oracle database.
• Maintained several HPUX servers.
• Maintained several Solaris and Linux systems utilized by the Maine DMV.

North Berwick, ME

• Managed more than 200 Solaris 8/9 servers.
• Maintained several IBM P series servers running AIX 5.3, using NIM and HMC’s to support systems.
• Maintained several HACMP environments for High Availability of mission critical systems.
• Maintained sendmail, DNS, NFS, and NIS systems / environments.
• Desktop and server support to 500 design engineers at Pratt and Whitney and Bath Iron works.

• Installed the first Sidewinder Firewalls at Edwards AFB.
• Installed the first Netscape proxy servers at Edwards AFB.
• Managed security monitoring for a base with 150 networks and 10,000 users.
• Developed database used to track unit staff during base exercises and drills.
• Deployed to Middle East for five months as computer specialist. Acted as crypto currier for base.
• Deployed to Italy in support of no-fly zone operations.
