Managed Adobe LiveCycle Mosaic through its transition from a seed project through its entire lifetime. Mosaic is Adobe’s RIA framework targeted for enterprise application development using HTML5 and Flex. It provides modular development, cross-FlexSDK support and targets desktop, web and mobile runtime environments. I defined requirements, met with customers, and managed a distributed team of developers using the scrum process.Managed development of the Assembler, ReaderExtensions, RightsManagement, DocConverter and PDFUtility products for LiveCycle 7.2, 8.0, 8.2 and 9.0 enterprise suites. Architected the DDX processing engine (US Patent 8,082,496) using JAXB to process Acrobat-style document manipulations. Architected a next-generation International Travel Planning intranet for the world’s second-largest corporate flight services company. Designed a distributed tool for global resource management of aircraft, personnel and all supporting resources including airports, customs, security and government organizations. Developed a J2EE architecture using EJBs, JMS, JSP and Servlets running on WebLogic and SQL Server. Used Xdoclet to programmatically generate Struts form and EJB classes and interfaces. Co-founded the company and managed the entire engineering effort for development of a credit card and ACH transaction gateway. Met with customers to determine requirements, performed technology evaluations, and designed a robust XML interface to multiple credit card processors using J2ME, WAP, and HTML user interfaces. Provided architectural leadership for a B2B Internet incubator. Assisted the VPE with technical due diligence of potential incubates by evaluating both technical and business viability of proposals. Assisted with hiring developers, and was liaison with an external QA team. Lead a team of 8 through the design, development and release of a fully functioning preview version of the www.iventuri.com web site in 7 weeks using Weblogic’s Commerce and Personalization Server, OpenLDAP, and Oracle 8i EE. Created and directed the Development, Quality Assurance, Web Production, Web Operations and IT Support teams for an e-commerce company, serving business-to-business and business-to-consumer web sites for the printing industry. Initially served as the only in-house software engineer, and grew the organization to 32 people over a period of 18 months. Responsible for all personnel and budgeting functions for the engineering team. Reported to the CEO, and worked directly with the VPs of Operations, Sales, and Marketing. Responsible for design and implementation of a web-based shopping cart and order fulfillment system to handle highly customizable print products, as well as print supplies and services. Created the technical team for an internet video store (www.reel.com) that was purchased by Hollywood Video in June 1998 for $100m. Managed the Delopment and Quality teams, and interfaced with Content and Operations groups. Implemented a distributed architecture to increased site transaction capacity by a factor of 5. Developed C++, C, and perl code for new site features in the shopping cart and search engine. Developed new database schemas to support multiple vendor databases and enable automated order processing. Reported directly to the CEO and CTO of the company. Chief architect of the distributed object layer of the KLARITY wafer inspection analysis workstation. Selected and purchased the Orbix CORBA implementation after evaluating it against other distributed object and messaging products. Implemented four of the network services in C++, and provided technical assistance to the other service developers. Migrated previous Informix database interfaces to Oracle. Created the architecture for a distributed application protocol. Designed and developed a controller in C++ to provide a common application program interface to TCP, UDP, and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) communications protocols. Designed Motif user interfaces for the controller and diagnostic tools. Managed 5 people for 9 months. Generated an unsolicited proposal, and successfully presented the concept to management and customer representatives.
