Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) was founded in 2008 by a group of enthusiastic gamers and leaders who wanted to make a difference for esports in Singapore. SCOGA aims to elevate esports by educating young people, nurturing online communities and creating job opportunities. SCOGA’s vision for the Esports Academy involves creating a centre of excellence around esports and youth leadership. Supported by the National Youth Council, the academy aims to equip youths with skills such as leadership, teamwork and communication to strive towards their aspirations and grow in their careers. The academy deploys a learn-by-playing approach by using competitive video games to create the learning environment. The academy also uses peer learning methods of training, by creating opportunities for esports celebrities to interact with youth trainees, allowing them to cross share experiences and tell stories. SCOGA promotes youth volunteerism by creating opportunities for academy alumnus to give back to their communities and the community at large. In 2018, more than 100,000 participants from 13 countries have turned up for SCOGA events live in person with more than 6.5 million unique online viewers in the past year alone. These events included Asian Games Esports Singapore Qualifiers, Campus Game Fest, Asian Football Gaming Championship Grand Finals, Garena AOV Cup, and the Singapore Qualifiers for Alisports’ World Electronic Sports Games. Over the past 10 years, more than a million have participated in SCOGA’s events live in person and more than a thousand have now gone through the doors of our Esports Academy in both part time and full-time programmes.

The Youth Circle is a pilot youth empowerment partnership initiative by the National Youth Council (NYC) and Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), to co-deliberate and co-create social policies for egames and esports with young Singaporeans with knowledge and experience in this area. The Youth Circle aims to understand and address the social concerns as well as support the upsides to e-gaming through informed recommendations and ground-up initiatives.In recent years, egames and esports have become increasingly popular in Singapore and have shown potential to be used as a means for youth development (e.g. viable career opportunities/ pathway for aspiring youths, or youth engagement platform). However, there are also social concerns surrounding egames and esports such as in-game mechanisms that may induce gambling (e.g. loot boxes), gaming addiction among youth gamers, problem gambling arising from illegal esports betting.

CAMPUS GAME FEST (CGF) is an initiative spearheaded by the Singapore CyberSports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM), co-organised by the CyberAthlete Professional League (CPL). Positioned as the biggest internet party for the youth in Singapore, the festival is filled with digital lifestyle activities in the areas of Games, Arts, Media & Edutainment. CGF has the objectives of promoting creativity, innovation and cultivating cyber wellness via a balanced and healthy lifestyle approach for the youth.Already in its 7th year, Campus Game Fest (CGF) has cemented its place as Singapore’s go to internet party! This year’s CGF is another fun-filled celebration where you can participate and watch local and regional teams duke it out on popular game titles like Mobile Legends Bang Bang, FIFA, PUBG, League of Legends, DOTA2, and more! The fittest gets to represent Singapore in Asia Pacific Predator League Grand Finals in the Phillippines as well as South Korea GIRLGAMER Esports festival, the award-winning event focused on celebrating women’s competitiveness in esports! And not forgetting Campus Legends, where the best tertiary student gamers in Singapore will be battling for S$10,000 worth of scholarship and prizes!
