Hi, my name is Dorian Edwards. I am a passionate, dedicated worker who seeks vitality and joy in all things, jobs, and places. Since I was a little girl, I have loved nature, animals, writing, and communication. I like to be in the beautiful mess of life and be able to be a conduit for creativity wherever I can. I love to use my words, my photography, videos, and more as an advocate for humans and animals alike. I am a UCLA graduate in Communication Studies and since my time at University, I have pursued what I love. For 5 years, I was a Wilderness Educator and Program Coordinator where I created and led adventure trips for students of all ages. This time strengthened my flexibility, my presence, my intuition, my leadership, and my ability to source humor in situations as a way to move through difficult and changing dynamics. It also broadened my compassion and communication skills in making education accessible to all ages, demographics, and needs. I believe that we are, to use a High School Musical quote, "all in this together" and for us all to have more fulfillment in our lives, it is about connecting our hearts. A large part of that is making information, activities, and education accessible to everyone. I furthered this passion and belief as a Content Creator for the SB Zoo where my intention was to connect people to the animals by way of their beauty, intelligence, humor, and beingness. I understand these are human words placed on more than human beings, and yet, our limited words are what we have to express ourselves in this world, and I do my best with them. Always. It is so important to me to be a conscious communicator with a penchant for authenticity, enthusiasm, and encouragement. This heart-centered drive helped increase the Zoo's social media reach by 1500%, or, about 300 million impressions during my 2 years at the institution. My love of story also led me to becoming a published author when I wrote a children's book about the real life adventures of a penguin named Monty. In the height of the pandemic, I followed him around the Zoo on his excursions and created a viral series that I eventually progressed into a book that sold worldwide. I am a story teller in my soul. In every which way. And I would love the opportunity to make and create story with you!
