Project: Investigating the role of Rreb1 in mouse pancreatic beta cell development.• Characterizing Rreb1 expression in embryonic tissue using immunofluorescence.• Genotyping mice for Ins1 and Rreb1 using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).• Sectioning of paraffin-embedded pancreatic tissue using the microtome.

• Dithizone staining of immature beta cells differentiated from embryonic stem cells.• Genotyping transgenic mice using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) on insulin-specific genes such as Ins1, Ins2.• Determining viability of immature beta cells using fluorescent microscopy.• Quantifying C-peptide in human and rat plasma using ELISA kits.• Creating buffer(s) for perifusion by measuring and combining various biological reagents.• Examining aggregates of differentiated embryonic stem cells.• Supporting research associates, post doctoral fellows, lab managers, technicians in experimental procedures.• Working in biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, and flow hood.
