As Chief Architect, I am a member of the North America Office of Technology, extending the reach of the CTO's office to Red Hat's North America Commercial clients, with a focus on IT executive and IT decision maker relationships. This role gives me opportunity to hold several strategic responsibilities, including:* Maintain executive technology relationships in clients in the North America Northeast region, promoting technology as an integral component of meeting modern business demands, and aligning the appropriate technology architecture to deliver on those business needs.* Provide consultative guidance to IT decision makers, particularly in the areas of modernization, security, and digital transformation and the management concerns around staffing, skills management, IT organizational structure, and alignment of IT initiatives to business values.* Provide IT architectural guidance to IT implementers, particularly in the IT areas of public/private cloud, automation, containerization, modern operational practices, and cyber security concerns in each of these areas.* Coordinate events and represent Red Hat at events as a speaker/presenter, with special focus on IT executive (CIO, CTO, CISO) audiences and topics related to IT security/risk and modernization.* Act as a field liaison of Red Hat's CTO Office to Red Hat clients across the North America Commercial Geo, with direct alignment to Red Hat's Chief Security Architect.* Deliver internal guidance, education, and mentoring to Red Hat's Solution Architect organization on various topics, including career development and engaging in client conversations that extend beyond pure technology into attainment of business value and alignment with business strategy.* Engage with Red Hat's internal engineering, product, and leadership teams to keep Red Hat's strategies aligned with the needs (current, emerging, and future) of clients throughout North America.

Senior Solution Architect working with Red Hat's Financial Services Industry. Matt joined Red Hat in January 2013, bringing with him almost two decades of IT experience working with and contributing to Open Source in the Enterprise. With roles ranging from development and system administration to management, strategy, and architecture, Matt has a love for many areas of technology, with a particular interest in Identity and Access Management and Security in the Hybrid Cloud.

Progressive advancement through several managerial and strategic leadership roles.* Managed 6 teams of 25 highly technical individuals with broad responsibilities across Mainframe, Unix, Linux, Windows, Application Middleware, Identity Middleware, and Virtualization technologies, including hundreds of critical business applications and infrastructure services.* Direct oversight and strategy of hardware infrastructure (IBM Blade Centers, IBM z10 IFL), virtualization (VMware, RHEV, zVM), Linux environment (Debian, Ubuntu, SuSE, Red Hat servers), IdM services (Kerberos, LDAP, CAS, Shibboleth), web site and application hosting (2 million requests/day via Apache and Tomcat), email delivery (1 million emails/day routed via Sendmail, 35000 mailboxes via Cyrus IMAP), with team of 9 highly technical direct reports. Directly responsible for deployment and administration of IdM services and Linux management and monitoring solutions.* Notable initiatives include leadership in a State-wide committee to identify areas for potential reduction of IT spend through inter-agency collaboration, expanding the enterprise Identity and Access Management infrastructure for 100,000 users, updating and optimizing the hardware and virtualization infrastructure for the University's data center, improving the consistency and manageability of the rapidly expanding Linux environment, and cloud sourcing email/collaboration services to Google Apps.

Joined the University of Connecticut's ITS department after graduation in 2000 as a Windows Server Support team member. Responsibilities have progressed through both functional and strategic leadership, including manager of the 25 member server group, chair of various campus technology groups, and strategic architectural oversight for various critical technology service areas.
