Doug led complex, cross-functional teams comprised of highly disparate stakeholders including management, economic and survey researchers, and community-wide and sector-specific leaders. These teams delivered the Charlotte Regional Indicators Project and the 2008 Citistates Report on the Charlotte Metro Region. The Charlotte Regional Indicators Project was the first-ever comprehensive look at the quality of life across the Charlotte region.The Citistates Report is an independent assessment of the region's major problems and opportunities based on interviews of a broad range of metropolitan leaders and citizen groups and best practices from regions nationwide.

Greater Memphis Area

As the organization's first Executive Director, Doug led all aspects of the operation, including programming, fundraising, membership, marketing/communications and community relations. Doug led six program committees representing emerging leaders from across the Memphis area to design and initiate ambitious and successful initiatives that improved the city.

Charlotte, North Carolina Area

Doug was responsible for networking, education, training and recognition programming for the chamber's 4,200 small business members. He managed all aspects of seven area councils, representing 3,000 business and community leaders, with responsibility for fundraising and sponsorship, public policy, membership, education and programming functions.
