Managing the HDI department for Barron McCann Ltd a major vendor independent EPOS installation and maintenance company. Major rollouts included 1600 stores and 6000 till EPOS refresh for the Coop Group (TCG), EPOS refresh for WHSmiths Travel and Retail, Halfords, TKMaxx, JJB sport, Iceland, TCG IMAC works. Responsible for a department with a turnover of £4M per year in project services. The department consisted of 40 direct employed installation engineers with over 60 contract engineers at peak, 5 project managers and supporting project office, stock control, 9 senior build and configuration engineers. Managed the complete process from delivery of customer’s hardware, asset management, build and configuration, testing to delivery and installation of EPOS systems in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Spain and Portugal.Non Retail Project - Working with NATs and Lockheed Martin to refurbish over 300 air traffic control work stations in a live envirnoment over a 3 month period. Personaly managed the project on behalf of BMC from tender proposal through to sign off.National Census - I was overall in charge of this from tender to wash up (Programme manager) turning it from a £450,000 project to £2.5M including hardware procurement.This was a very successful project for both Lockheed Martin and Barron McCann.

Sainsbury’s out sourced their IT function to Accenture and as part of that deal the Retail Projects Engineering Group moved over and Sainsbury’s became the client. Used Accenture structured Project Management methodology to control client’s projects through full life cycle. Easily adapted to the change from Client to Consultant. Scope of department increased to include Sainsbury’s Depots and Picking centres. Put together a number of work packages or client bids. Very hands on approach to Managing Projects and project teams

Managed a highly motivated team of project managers who formed Retail Projects Engineering Group. Provided an IT installation Project management service to the Retail Division, JS Depots, Security and Sainsbury’s bank. Restructured the department employing additional project manager resource developed and introduced successfully procedures that greatly increased the effectiveness of the department to deliver mass installations under very tight time scales while significantly reducing capital costs.

Worked in the BCAS (Branch Computing and Scanning) Engineering Group who were responsible for the implementation of computer based systems e.g. Point Of Sale, RF networks, LAN networks, security systems etc in trading stores using a multi trade 3rd party contractor base. Experts at mass rollouts with tight budgets and very short timescales. The group had a project spend of over £3million per year. Managing over 800 installations per year.

Member of a small team of Electrical Engineers in the Works Engineers Department at British Aerospace in Filton. The department was responsible for all electrical installations and HV switching on a square mile site that incorporated a runway, aircraft hangers, wind tunnels, aircraft servicing hangers and manufacturing workshops. All A320 Air Bus wings are manufactured at Filton. Had two in house electrical installation teams to cover small works and maintenance. Engaged 3rd party building and electrical contractors to carry out major electrical installations e.g. rewire factories, aircraft hangers, office blocks etc All electrical installation were designed and project managed by our team.
