Process Control Systems can be challenging for customers to define, and purchase, and to maintain over the life cycle. The various aspects of the DCS are interesting to me. I have worked on and\or led DCS Projects for 6 years and then transitioned from designing and implementing Controls System, to supporting them (Technical Support). During these 10 years I developed a deep understanding of what are the needs of the customer, and how the product addresses them, and the relationship of customizations and standards affect the customer over the life cycle. With 10 years of application engineering background, I had developed an interest in Pre-Sales cycle, regarding DCS Promotion and business development. In this role I was able to apply my technical background with prospective customers in a pseudo-'Technical Marketing' way. Not only supporting DCS, but also launching supporting products\programs like 'Simulation' for the DCS. Continuing this path has taken me to Karslruhe, Germany to help lead the Go-To-Market process, where Siemens is introducing a new DCS to the global market. I work between Product Management, Development, and Marketing to discover new ways to transfer the knowledge of what the product is currently capable of, and sharing the vision of what it will do in the future. In parallel to an internal roll-out, I have had the opportunity to work directly with customers regarding the new DCS. Presenting the vision, demonstrating it, and working with them to see how we envision it, and also hearing their perspectives on what they see as the benefits of the system. I listen and collect their feedback on what they can envision to be even more efficient with the DCS. During my stay in Germany, I have learned German up to the C1 Level, where I now actively participate, and present in German. In the late Summer my 3yr delegation will come to an end. Then I will return back to Harleysville, PA and re-join the region in their DCS Go-To-Market implementation
