Project manager for several significant projects, including: tendering, commission and import of a new (fast moving super single land rig) into PNG; planning and execution of two logistically challenging exploration well in the Forelands of PNG; managing a workover and development drilling campaign in the PNG highlands.

Corporate role reporting to the GM Drilling, providing functional support and governance for Oil Search global drilling activities. Duties included, preparation and maintenance of the corporate drilling standard and under-lying procedures and assurance that all OSL drilling activities are carried out in accordance to these.

Part of the drilling management team, with three drilling engineer direct reports. Responsible for ensuring all drilling activities in PNG were planned and executed in accordance with Oil Search standards and procedures. Role also included personnel and budget planning, pre-concept activities for new wells, rig projects and championing technology opportunities.

Responsible for the delivery of technically and logistically challenging heli-rig drilling activities in PNG. Duties included: detailed well design; coordination of civil construction activities; operational support during drilling; time and cost estimation; equipment and personnel planning; contractor and vendor management; engagement with regulatory authorities.

Offshore role on several semi-submersible drilling rigs operating in the UK North Sea and Ireland. Responsible for managing all operations on the rig at night, including: preparing detailed work instructions; supervising critical operational activities; preparing daily operational reports; managing HSSE, personnel and logistics etc.

Based in Shell’s global headquarters as part of the EP wells team working on billion dollar development projects, new venture start-ups and remote exploration projects. During this assignment I was also a coach and mentor to drilling graduates preparing for their Shell Round I examination.Lead Front-end Well Engineer, Pearls (Kazakhstan) Appraisal and Development team - responsible for drilling technical input to field development plan for the Pearls field in Kazahstan, including: rig and substructure strategy; drilling, completion & workover philosophy; well and completion designs. This included estimating drilling costs in excess of $1bln.Well Engineer, Shell Algeria Exploration Venture - worked as part of the team to deliver a five well exploration and appraisal campaign in the remote Saharan desert. Designed and planned several of these wells (one well drilled with UBD) and also worked as operations well engineer in Hassi Messaoud, writing and executing operational plans, and managing personnel & equipment in support of the drilling operations.Lead Front-end Well Engineer, H-node (Nigeria) Appraisal and Development Team - responsible for well engineering activities to select the optimal development concept for three fields in the H-block, shallow water offshore Nigeria. Functional lead with two well engineering reports.

Lifecycle Well Engineer (office based) - well design and planning engineer for Shell NL and UK (Southern North Sea) assets. Designed new wells as per Shell well delivery process to meet design standards. Estimated well costs, prepared well programs, obtained regulatory permits and ordered equipment as required to deliver well as per drilling schedule.Wellsite Drilling Engineer - based on land and jack-up rigs drilling in The Netherlands. Duties included, assisting drilling supervisors to execute well programs by: preparing detailed work instructions; supervising critical operational activities; preparing daily operational reports; managing HSSE, personnel and logistics etc.

Graduate Drilling Engineer - working on the wellsite: land exploration well in Northern Greece; appraisal drilling campaign in the Persian Gulf (South Pars); and a deep water exploration well West of Ireland.

Summer work in the Drilling group. Assisted with planning of horizontal wells in the North Sea and conducted a review of several cuttings handling/processing techniques. Worked offshore as a Junior Drill Rep on the Alba North Platform.

Summer work for two consecutive years, firstly in the Process Engineering department and subsequently the Drilling Department. Assisted with AFE preparation for rig tendering and bid evaluation for Maureen platform abandonment.
