Currently teach 6th Grade Social Studies, Economics with Financial Literacy, American History, and World Geography in an asynchronous, remote, on-line environment. Evaluate student work products on a daily basis and provide individualized feedback. Compile stock feedback into a OneNote file and share with Social Studies colleagues in order to provide continuity for students and ease the workload for team members when they are sub-grading. Utilize PhraseExpress to improve grading efficiency. Communicate regularly with students, parents, advisors, and IT support staff on student performance, IEPs, grade submissions, and technical troubleshooting. Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions via Zoom upon request of students, advisors and/or parents. Document student and parent interactions. Apply and document IEP accommodations as appropriate. Encourage student engagement by providing weekly announcements, discussion forum posts, Padlet activities, and live, interactive Zoom sessions. Developed a uniquely themed announcement series with integrated activities for each class in 2022-2023 to increase student engagement. Review and analyze student performance data in order to design supplemental instruction materials including graphic organizers and tutorial videos. Identify and recommend curriculum corrections and enhancements to Content Department on a regular basis. Create and facilitate professional development sessions for colleagues in the Social Studies / Electives Department. Assist colleagues with sub-grading in world history, civics, economics, psychology, and other social studies courses. Assist with training of new staff members when they join the department. Analyze data and provide recommendations to the Social Studies/Electives Department Manager to facilitate rebalancing of course loads when staffing levels change.

Developed and taught courses related to travel and trip planning. Courses highlighted a variety of natural, historic, and cultural attractions throughout the United States. Activities also included strategies and tools for developing a trip itinerary, meal planning, budgeting, and tips for getting out on the road more often. All classes received 100% satisfaction ratings based on students’ completed course evaluations. Developed a class entitled Modern Board Games: The Cure for Cabin Fever. This class was scheduled to be offered at two different times, but both classes had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Served as a building substitute at Lincoln High School in the Ellwood City Area School District in a variety of classrooms including English, algebra, art, emotional support, learning support, Spanish, STEM, biology, reading, and history. Served for 2 months as the District’s Gifted Program Coordinator while the full-time staff member recovered from surgery. Reviewed GIEPs to ensure the District provided students with appropriate challenges and opportunities. Met regularly with elementary and high school students to play various academic games and prepare for competitions. Provided logistical support including event registrations, transportation, permission slips, and teacher communiques for activities including Drama Day, KDKA Hometown Hi-Q, World Affairs Institute, Linguishtiks, Onsets and Forensics academic games.

Responsible for leading development of the region’s long-range transportation plan, Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Unified Planning Work Program. Oversaw a staff of approximately 25 planners, engineers and data analysts working in a variety of areas including freight planning, pedestrian and bicycle transportation, carpool/vanpool programs, public transit, intelligent transportation systems, traffic operations and safety, travel demand modeling, corridor studies and project development. Managed an annual work program budget of approximately $6-$6.5M. Also served on the Board of Directors for the Oakland Transportation Management Association and the Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities program.

Led efforts to develop technical evaluation criteria to evaluate candidate projects for prioritization in the region’s long-range transportation plan and TIP. Managed annual program budgets that typically totaled $400,000-$500,000 in federal, state and local funding. Initiated and managed consultant work orders and consultant-staff project teams.Led the regional Transportation Operations & Safety Committee including development of the Regional Operations Plan, which identifies transportation operations needs. Initiated programs to address these needs, including the Regional Traffic Signal Program and Traffic Incident Management program. Coordinated a Regional TIM Steering Committee and 4 Local TIM Teams to improve the safety of first responders, decrease congestion, reduce secondary crashes, and improve interagency communication. These efforts resulted in the region’s annual FHWA TIM self-assessment score improving from 33.8% to 70.4% in 3 years.Maintained the region’s federally-mandated Congestion Management Process. Designed and implemented a web-based system for administering the CMP. Advanced the use of new technology for enhanced data collection. Established a regional Road Safety Audit program. Organized and led multidisciplinary teams in the completion of 22 RSAs in a variety of locations around the region.Coordinated 2 comprehensive updates of the region’s urbanized boundaries and roadway functional classification system. Managed the federal Transportation Enhancements programs for Southwestern PA. Conducted outreach to applicants to explain the program and provide technical assistance. Coordinated a regional committee to evaluate candidate projects and provide funding recommendations. Tracked legacy projects and assisted project sponsors in navigating the project development process.
