CurrentDouglas Vogel is a lifelong baseball and golf fan. Born and raised in New Jersey, Vogel has made a living as a Golf Course Superintendent. His hobbies include the study of American history with a strong focus on baseball and golf. The focus of his research and writing has been the development of golf course maintenance and the profession of the golf course superintendent from the introduction of golf to the United States in the 1880s to present. Vogel has been published in many professional magazines including Golfdom, Golf Course Management and The Golf Journal. He is a credentialed press member of the PGA of America, the PGA Tour and the United States Golf Association and covers major golf tournaments with emphasis on golf course tournament preparation. He is a past Editor of The Greenerside, an award-winning newsletter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of New Jersey. Vogel has authored many highly acclaimed golf journals including Maintaining Baltusrol, Maintaining Ridgewood, The History of the Golf Course Superintendent's Association of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Turfgrass Association's 75th Anniversary Journal.
