This program also included an independent study at the intersection of the students' major and emergency management and a practicum designing, conducting and evaluating a full-scale exercise using the principles of the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program. This program was the first certificate program offered by Saint Michael's College and was the only higher ed EM program in the state of Vermont at the time.I designed and taught "Issues In Contemporary Policing" This course explored a variety of factors that influence modern policing in the US. We engaged with issues of race and bias, economics, public health, technology and more to develop an understanding of interactions and effects of police and communities. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to the President of the College and Cabinet members on security and institutional safety, compliance concerns and considerations.The Director is responsible for all phases of emergency management, preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation and developing, implementing and updating the Emergency Operations Plan, functional and threat specific annexes. They also conduct emergency and disaster training and exercises for department staff, responders and college officials.In this role I also developed feedback channels including leveraging technology to make department more responsive and accountable and ensure the department reflected the college’s mission, and effectively communicated with multiple stakeholders in writing, presentations and through the media and social media platforms.
